Are there really benefits for the child?
Yes, on a physical level, even if some children would really benefit more than others, from doing Tummy Time, all children can and should do Tummy Time. Not only are they building their muscles, they are strengthening them. Moreover, these are notably deep muscles. The abdominal areas, but also neck-shoulders, jaw-tongue, and arms! Moreover, it is a means of connection or reconnection between parents and children. Playing next to a child is a connection, it's an incomparable moment! By playing with your child lying on his/her tummy, it's another dimension, because you play, you connect, and you help him/her in his/her motor development of today but also of tomorrow |

Are there really benefits for parents?
Apart from the fact that you may have to secure your home earlier....and is that a benefit you will ask me? Yes, for all parents; because you are guided in Tummy Time activities that are secure, there is a whole basic framework even if Tummy time is ultimately easy to set up, you are guided, your baby is happy, it strengthens your confidence; and the basis is the connection with your child. Some parents may have breastfeeding/chestfeeding problems, and suffer in their breasts/chest and in their soul; having interactions that are not physically painful to them means having a connection with the child, it's a bubble “I have my child close to me and it doesn't hurt my breasts/chest”. I take advantage of this, to say: breastfeeding does not hurt, it is the bad latch that generates pain and crack and issues; don't wait to consult a professional IBCLC like me to see what is not going well and how to solve it as soon as possible. |

Why can we read that there is no need to do Tummy Time?
My own analysis, which only commits me, is that there are people who have tried to do Tummy Time, but who have not done the real Tummy Time Method; without a guide, without a framework, you are especially likely to propose activities totally unsuitable for the baby's age, or which are “badly” done. And so, the child grumbles, cries, it goes badly; so those deceived people discuss with other people, caregivers, and then conclude that it's not great and that they can do without it. So of course we can do without it.... the motor delay is caught up; without Tummy Time, the child sits at some point but later; he crawls at some point, but later. However, it is the deep muscles that are built and strengthened, and it is the muscles that make the bones; moreover, we will work on visual focus, on vision, on hand-eye coordination; and these are still improved. |

What is the minimum age for my child to do the Tummy Time Method?
If we consider that the American Academy of Pediatrics, which “invented” the concept of Tummy Time in 1995, recommends starting Tummy Time upon return from maternity and when we know about early discharges from maternity in the USA, let's say that at the very least, you can start upon discharge from maternity; maybe you will even do Tummy Time in your maternity room without knowing it. |

At some point we will put the child on the floor
So already your baby will not be placed directly on your tile or parquet.... |

No but seriously, how to set up Tummy Time when you are overwhelmed with time?
Like the massage-exercises that I recommend to my little breastfed/chestfed patients, who suffer from either osteopathic blockages or restrictive oral ties (like tongue-tie), I present a set of blocks, and parents pick from what they are sure they can do. The particular advantage of Tummy Time is that you are going to replace some interactions that you already have at this moment, with your child, by an interaction in Tummy Time. Engaging in Tummy Time sessions is not “doing something more”, it's doing something differently. |

Of course, partners are welcome!!!
You will have your private competition for 2-3 particular activities, to the one who has the most abs and dorsal muscle strengthening :-) |

What if my child sleeps during the appointment?
I show you a first time; if you have a baby doll you can start to appropriate the gestures while I show you again and I watch how you do. Depending on your learning method, you can do at the same time as me of course - and we repeat too! |

And if my child cries, or regurgitates
We adapt! If baby cries, we respond to her or his needs like feeding, diaper.... for example More particularly if we are in real presence, for big physical discomforts like pains or unmanageable child or regurgitations I could “take a look” and refer you if necessary. |

How much time per day?
There is a duration per session, and a total duration per day, which depend on the child's age and her or his motor progress and acquisitions. |

If my baby “only holds for two minutes”
Well, we will put it into perspective according to her/his age, to introduce more sessions (shorter sessions but more numerous) More particularly if we are in real presence -understand in the same place, virtual would make it hard, I will “look” and will see to refer your child if I feel/feel things - like the need to consult a chiropractor for example. |

I'm not there during the day!
This can be discussed together; if the person who cares for your child during the day is motivated and has all your trust, we can consider a consultation with this person. |

There are many other questions that can be asked
If you have a particular question, you will ask me during the preliminary conversation (free) before making an appointment. |
